SamenKlanken
Branding
overview
SamenKlanken is a concert series organising accessible live music events. They create a space where audiences, artists and venues work together to make concerts more accessible. They requested an accessible visual identity and flyers to promote their events.
The visual identity for this client needed to be accessible, but also joyful, vibrant and adaptive. Typography choices, colour combinations, colour contrasts all follow WCAG standards and thoughtfully communicate the brand values.

Testing Colour Options
Selecting the primary brand colours happens fairly early. At the start I guide clients through a few exercises to help them define their brand values. All design decisions will consistently relate back to those chosen values to ensure the visual identity truly represents them. Selecting the right supporting colours in the colour palette requires a little bit of play and testing.
I provided 4 colour palette options, each with:
colour values
how they relate to brand values
colour contrast ratios (following WCAG standards)
testing colour combinations for various colour visions (colour blindness)
The client chose the option with Soft Pink as their supporting colour.
Logo
Using the brand values, the logo design process goes through a few iterations. SamenKlanken wanted a joyful and vibrant logo that communicates adaptivity and movement. This meant I focused on bold, but rounded typography and a wobbly/flowy logotype.
An issue we came across was to find a right balance between playful and child-like. The combination of the vibrant orange and flowy logotype also hinted at soda visual identities, so I stayed away from circular supportive graphics. The logo was tested on various people outside the design industry for opinions and adjustments were made.
The final logo connects with the initial brand values and is available in four colour options: colour version in orange-beige, and supporting versions in off-black and beige.
