Melograms
Audiovisual // generative design
overview
Melograms are a collection of audiovisual pieces which explore the alternative documentation of music and sound. The generative design visualisations capture and transform the ephemeral music art form into a tangible graphical state.
core
Experiencing the visualisation of a sound piece allows the song to be felt through a different sense and a new perspective. Watching the lines being etched, while following the melody and rhythm creates tension between anticipation and surprise.

The music chosen for this first collection are jazz covers sung by Senny. The notion of ephemerality and intangibility are also meaningful factors in her work. For her, jazz allows her to experiment with rhythm and gives her the opportunity to drag her diction outside any structure.
