Creatives with Unseen Disabilities

community & education

overview

Creatives with Unseen Disabilities (CUD) is a community-based research project for and by creatives with non-apparent disabilities, chronic illnesses or people who are neurodiverse. Kristin Langer and I facilitated monthly sessions to discuss topics such as disability language and pride, and balancing self-care with work.

core

Many creatives don’t disclose their disability or needs due to social stigma, feel they are alone with their problems or do not feel safe in spaces that are inaccessible to them. As a community we support one another and create moments to share, connect and collaborate.

extra detail

  • This community started through my residency at WORM Pirate Bay, Rotterdam.

  • Our monthly sessions in 2022 happened in April-October, with a final show on 25th November.

  • New dates for 2023 are 1st April, 3rd June, 21st October and 9th December.

  • Read an interview about the residency here.
